FIFTY WAYS TO LEAVE YOUR LOVER

Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover is a conceptual artwork made up of 50 individual postcard-sized paintings, grouped together to form a whole that was temporarily displayed on a window of Wagamama’s restaurant in Brighton, UK, on 2nd March 2005.

The postcards were then sent to fifty established galleries as a 'gift' with an explaination of the original concept. A couple of 'thank you's for your enquiry' were sent back plus quite an abusive telephone call from one particular gallery.

CAR WORKS

Car works were done when I lived in Brighton and I revisited the car breakers that I used to frequent when I was at art college to get bits and ideas for art. There's something sad about cars that are well past their sell-by date and lie unloved and stripped of their parts. It also says something about the nature of capitalism and the Throw-Away Society, but also about the need for Recycling. Finally everything lives and dies, even machines that have no 'soul' but were loved by someone once.
